How do you use the Community Center? For fitness? Playing bridge or MahJong? Golf? Pickleball? Or just to socialize with friends at lunch or dinner at the restaurant?

The Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department is conducting an assessment of the recreational wants and needs of our community. The Community Center is a large part of that and if we want to keep it and make it better, we MUST let our voices be heard.

To do this is simple. Go to and click the “Participate Today” button to enter your priorities. You don’t have to write an essay. You don’t even have even have to be grammatically correct. You can just say “Golf” “Bocce Ball”  “Overlook”  “A place to play Bridge”, etc. If you want other amenities, or if you want to elaborate, there’s room to do so. Of course if you want to list amenities for other recreational facilities outside the community center you may do so.

The website also gives a good overview of the assessment process and the timelines. This is important, as the information is being collected in February and March. Not all residents will receive a survey, and this is why it’s important to provide your input via the website. The findings will be presented to the Town Council in May 2020 – and this is just right around the corner.

There will also be the opportunity to provide input at planned community wide meetings to be held between now and May.

Again, this is important because the assessment will determine the funding for Parks and Recreation Programs in the coming 10 years. There will be a lot of competing interests to fund hiking trails, archery ranges, soccer fields, water sports. So we need to let them know what is important to us.
